MURDER SINGS OUT is a light, fun, Agatha Christie type whodunit filled with clues and red herrings to challenge the reader. Elizabeth Poindexter is the local amateur sleuth in the small, southern town of Chickasaw, GA. When a fellow alto in her church choir turns up behind the organ strangled, she knows it's time to go to work. D.A. Michael Davonport, who just happens to be her grandson, spends time trying to solve the murder and also tries unsuccessfully to keep "Gran" away from the investigation. He also has to sidestep the local sheriff (straight out of central casting); Cousin Felicity, flaky octogenarian whose hair color changes with the seasons; and his grandmother's identical twin sister, Dr.Mary Peach, who just tries to stay out of the cross hairs.
There's a nice palette of suspects. Everyone from the husband of the victim to the local, elderly priest is included. After "helping" Michael dig into the private lives and secrets of her neighbors, Elizabeth finally figures out "whodunit" but not before putting Cousin Felicity's life in jeopardy.
